I admit to being not great about keeping up over here. But especially for two aunts (one related, one chosen) who like to stay up to date, let me make it quick this way…. copy and paste from FB!
Sat, 1/3, early evening
This sad little girl has injured her foot somehow (kids were playing but others didn't see it.) We heard screams downstairs and found her clutching her right foot. Now she will not bear weight and cries when we try to apply pressure. She can't describe what happened or specifics about the pain. But it's not good. Prayers appreciated. We talked to M's office (pediatric ortho) and will wait it out for right now, seeing them on Monday. She's so sad...
Sat 1/3, bedtime
Braska went to bed still being very unlike herself. (If you missed the post earlier, you can click on my name and see the post in my timeline...just sayin', for a certain few who seem to forget that *wink wink*) She still won't bear any weight, and even when rearranging herself in her bed gingerly, she yelped and then got angry at her foot. She kept asking us to kiss it, like it should make it better and it just wasn't working. I'm just praying she sleeps well, and we'll carry her around to church and all tomorrow if we need to... Monday morning we'll see ortho, Dr. A. Here's to chipping away at that great big deductible, eh?
Sun 1/4, 8am
Miss B is in good spirits, but still can't bear weight. She told us her foot was all better, and she said "it's OK now, I can stand" but nope. So she got propped up and is enjoying some VeggieTales while K and I head to church. She keeps kissing it. And she told her sister to "stay away from" her foot. At least she's not hurting when it's at rest.
Sun 1/4, 2pm
K.C. is keeping big sis company on her couch perch for the afternoon... Just watching some Fetch...
Mon, 1/5, 8am
OK, we have a break, into the growth plate... Not my favorite, but at least now we know. Looking at the bright side again... I don't have work responsibilities, so I won't have to rearrange so much. Prayers for her adjustment to her new pink sparkly cast. ( In xray pic, Salter-Harris fracture is in the middle of the foot, long bone on the left side of the image.)
Mon 1/5, 9pm
Thank goodness Braska went to sleep easily. I was worried her new accessory would be a problem for her, especially with her sensory and OCD issues. But she seems OK. She's home with me this week, til we see how things go. Thanks so much for all the well wishes and prayers! This little girl is SO tough!
She’s amazing, this one. She is adapting really well. She goes back tomorrow to try a partial day at school, with lots of help planned, of course.
