FB roundup: B’s accessory

I admit to being not great about keeping up over here. But especially for two aunts (one related, one chosen) who like to stay up to date, let me make it quick this way….  copy and paste from FB!

Sat, 1/3, early evening

This sad little girl has injured her foot somehow (kids were playing but others didn't see it.) We heard screams downstairs and found her clutching her right foot. Now she will not bear weight and cries when we try to apply pressure. She can't describe what happened or specifics about the pain. But it's not good. Prayers appreciated. We talked to M's office (pediatric ortho) and will wait it out for right now, seeing them on Monday. She's so sad...

Sat 1/3, bedtime

Braska went to bed still being very unlike herself. (If you missed the post earlier, you can click on my name and see the post in my timeline...just sayin', for a certain few who seem to forget that *wink wink*) She still won't bear any weight, and even when rearranging herself in her bed gingerly, she yelped and then got angry at her foot. She kept asking us to kiss it, like it should make it better and it just wasn't working. I'm just praying she sleeps well, and we'll carry her around to church and all tomorrow if we need to... Monday morning we'll see ortho, Dr. A. Here's to chipping away at that great big deductible, eh?

Sun 1/4, 8am

Miss B is in good spirits, but still can't bear weight. She told us her foot was all better, and she said "it's OK now, I can stand" but nope. So she got propped up and is enjoying some VeggieTales while K and I head to church. She keeps kissing it. And she told her sister to "stay away from" her foot. At least she's not hurting when it's at rest.

Sun 1/4, 2pm

K.C. is keeping big sis company on her couch perch for the afternoon... Just watching some Fetch...

Mon, 1/5, 8am

OK, we have a break, into the growth plate... Not my favorite, but at least now we know. Looking at the bright side again... I don't have work responsibilities, so I won't have to rearrange so much. Prayers for her adjustment to her new pink sparkly cast. ( In xray pic, Salter-Harris fracture is in the middle of the foot, long bone on the left side of the image.)

Mon 1/5, 9pm

Thank goodness Braska went to sleep easily. I was worried her new accessory would be a problem for her, especially with her sensory and OCD issues. But she seems OK. She's home with me this week, til we see how things go. Thanks so much for all the well wishes and prayers! This little girl is SO tough!

She’s amazing, this one.  She is adapting really well.  She goes back tomorrow to try a partial day at school, with lots of help planned, of course.

Quick pic: Braska's cast

Miss B has a new accessory. A sparkly pink cast to aid in the healing of her fractured metatarsal. A broken foot. She's just completed day 2 with the cast and she's doing well. The fracture does involve the growth plate, so we are praying there are not long-term issues. She's a tough one...

Quick pic: evening lights

Hard to believe that it's less than a week til Christmas.  I don't care for the stress and the shopping and the lists, but I like the lights. A lot.

Quick pic: pool therapy

Braska really is doing well with her aqua PT sessions each week.  We are seeing more obvious progress through these than in any of her other therapies right now, and she loves going! Thankful we got hooked up with this program.

Quick pic: the iPad

We have been given an iPad that's is no longer needed due to an upgrade. So we are going to be setting it up for Braska to hopefully take to school and utilize for educational apps for subjects that the appeal of visual helps and technology would make more interesting. For now, we are learning from the beginning...including using the camera for selfies...

Quick pic: Braska's spot

I'm going to try to do better about posting. Facebook,  Instagram and Twitter have of course made the quick photo and comment easy. I have a Blogger app so I'm gonna try to share some here more often. For those of you who are blog followers. All 3 of you. :)

For starters, Braska's enjoying Saturday morning in her favorite spot on the couch. So nice to just be home...  Hope you all had a nice holiday!

Joy and Peace

Just have to share this Kinlee moment….Our evening routine is referred to as "toilet, teeth, book, and bed." M covers most of the 1st three parts lately because I've been editing so often in the evening. But by request of the girls, I come in for prayers before they are tucked the last time. Kinlee has very recently started to begin praying before I start, which is so cool.  My favorite line is usually when she says, “Please help my family to learn, grown, and strive.” :)

Two little things to note before I continue…  Today the girls were with me for a studio photo shoot. I picked up some boxy letters, J, O, Y, to use for the Christmas portion of the shoot.  Kinlee liked helping me with the letters.  And earlier this morning, she asked if she could have a temporary tattoo on her upper arm. Someone gave it to her a while back. It says Peace.  So she’s sporting that tonight also.

We've been talking about the things going on in Ferguson lately, because she can read the headlines and she is very keen to conversations that happen around her, even in public settings. And since we live about 15 minutes from there, it’s a topic everywhere. Tonight she began to pray, and after being thankful for things like her family and her house to keep her safe, she said, “Please be with the people in Ferguson. Help them have what we made with the letters and what’s on my tattoo… joy and peace.”  I just had to stand there in the dark, holding the hands of my girls, and smile. Makes a mom proud. And I agree with her. Don’t even begin to think that anything gets by her. She is just so insightful…….  Thank you, Lord. Amen.
